I framed for many years but it's been many years ago. If I remember correctly here in the Baton Rouge area a typical garage door is framed in for an 18' door, correct? Also, any recommendations for the best folks to go with? Thanks in advance.

16' is by far the most common 2 car garage door size. This is more of an issue if you want an inexpensive door since the standard sizes are much cheaper in basic doors. If you are buying a mid to high-end door the price difference becomes more or less negligible.

Pick the door you want first. Then look at the cut sheets- it’ll tell you the exact dimensions to frame it to.

If you're looking for installation, I've used Doortech on Choctaw twice for home and shop bay doors. I would call them again if I need any other work.
