ETA in OP: Interlocking Vinyl Flooring Questions

I am in the market for vinyl plank interlocking wood-look flooring for my house. I'll need roughly 1800 sq ft. A couple of questions:
1. Does the backing thickness really dampen the sound enough to consider the thicker backing? (I do have a lab that click-clacks around on laminate flooring now.)
2. I have looked at flooring at Lowes/Home Depot and also a local flooring company/supplier. The local company/supplier was more expensive by > $0.50 per sq ft. Also, the backing on the Lowes/Home Depot supply was considerably thicker for a cheaper price.
My question is, is there a quality difference between a flooring company and Lowes/Home Depot?
Thanks in advance!
ETA: If I get the vinyl with the rubber pads on the bottom, do they slip/slide like the laminate flooring does?
For example, in one of my bedrooms, if I drag my feet at a certain spot, the laminate planks shift and a gap in flooring is shown in between the ends of two planks.

One of the big characteristics to look for is the wear layer thickness. Ones I see at HD and Lowe's are woefully thin. Look for 10+ mil thickness and higher.
Also, if you have a Lumber Liquidators in your area, take a look there. Prices are better than the two big box stores.

OP, what is your sub floor?
I had installed some that I got from HD. Was very happy with it. It's installed in a bathroom. My sub floor is hardie board. No clicking to it at all.
When buying that much flooring, make sure you get all flooring with the same lot/run number for a match up. The boxes will have that number printed on the box.

we bought ours from Stone and Cloth. FirmFit XXl. 22 mil thickness with cork backing. Looks fricking incredible. They installed it for like 1.50 or so a sq ft. it's a commercial grade floor.

I’ll definitely check out the thickness at Lowes/HD next time I’m there. I definitely want something around 12mm. 20, I was told at the flooring supplier, is fine but not necessary bc it is commercial grade in high traffic areas.
Thanks for the heads up!

Subfloor with be concrete with either rubber lay down (for elevation issues) or glued down vinyl tile. Do you remember how thick your backing was?
Thanks for the heads up on lot number.

We’re using them for counter tops. You wouldn’t happen to remember how much you paid per sq ft?

No, I don't. If I get a chance, I will check what it is. I have one of the boxes with extra strips in it. It's in my guest house way to the back and raining today.

Sorry, I asked my question wrong. Do you remember how much you paid for the floors from S&C?

Been shopping for some counter tops. Looks like they all have a set price of $55-$65 sf.
Didn't get a chance to check that box. Will try tomorrow.

You get what you pay for, as for laminate sliding that is installed wrong and cheap. Cork on bottom eliminates the need for sound layer so you save there. Truth is a good flooring company will stand behind the product and installation.
