City won't pick up my construction debris, which they have in the past. Anybody know who to call in EBR to schedule a pickup? I'm aware that I'll now have to pay someone.

Love to see my tax dollars at work...

ETA: Construction debris = stack of sheetrock

Pretty sure that construction debris isn't the responsibility of the government. That's your contractor's responsibility. At least that the way it used to be.

Tons of junk operators out there. I’d load it up and bring it to the dump. You get two trips per month.

If you are an EBRP resident and live in a house or duplex where you receive residential can service.
Bring you last water bill that you paid, as water along with trash are combined on the same bill.
Go to the dump 2 times a month for free.
The dump off scenic hwy and it is on the left side of the road coming from BR.
Pull up to the scale, get out and go to the window, and show them then bill.
They give you a ticket to sign for no cost.
Then drive to a huge concrete ramp area to the left of the scale house.
Back up the end where there is a rail.
Then you throw your trash in the roll off on the other side that is below the ramp area.

If you generated that pile of trash yourself and not a contractor I don't understand why it wouldn't be picked up in the debris pickup they do normally (for my neighborhood that is Thursdays).

They have picked up tree debris and wooden fence panels at my house.

Unless they treat the sheetrock like C&D waste and it has to go somewhere else?

This is my scenario. Hired a crew to do some drywall work, they left the pile of sheetrock waste. I moved it to the road and stacked neatly for pickup. I'm talking maybe a pickup truck-bed load of material, not a dumpster full.

City's website shows it picks up construction debris along with other large items (furniture, appliances, etc.)

I argued with the City employee about it, and she said "oh the website shouldn't say that"

Sounds like it's a term in the city's new contract with Republic services to not include sheetrock. Such BS.

Could you not just break it up and put it in the regular can a little at a time for normal twice weekly trash pick up? A pain in the butt obviously, but it would go fairly quickly if they dont come pick it up as they should.

Sounds ridiculous to me.

I watched Republic trashmen stuff an old sofa of mine into their garbage truck. The landfill sure as hell takes sheetrock if they take furniture.

Try cutting it up and putting it in the bin.

Pro tip: I bought a second can for a one-time fee so I have some capacity for cleanup or if I miss a pickup day. I have even put broken concrete 150# at a time and put a sign that says "Heavy" on it and they have taken that (Cans are supposed to be rated up to 225# I believe once they went to the tippers and automated trucks).

For me they only pick up the bulk every other Tuesday. You don't happen to live on a long street in-between Kenilworth and Mag Woods? I have been passing a neatly stacked pile of rock for a week or so.

break it into smaller pieces, load it up and go find a dumpster somewhere. This isn’t an insurmountable problem

been a couple of years but I demo'd bathroom and remodeled it...
got one of those green bags for debris so it would be easy for city to pick up...
they would not pick it up...
when I called I would told that because is said waste management on the bag city would not pick up...
but if I dumped it out of the bag on the yard they would...
I did and they did...
