does Arborvitae grow in south Louisiana?

We do them in containers. Typically a 3 gallon arborvitae in a 15+ gallon planter (irrigated with micros or drip). They last 5-7 years before outgrowing and being replaced. Never had long-term success in the ground.

For any level of success, you need excellent ventilation, like lake front living.

They tend to brown out at the lower branches at 10 years or so here in NC anyways.

Tops are fine but the branches at the bottom die leaving you with green privacy down to eye level and nasty dead branches from there down.

Not a fan unless you want to cut and replace every 10 years.

There were three arborvitae on the side of our house when we moved in almost 28 years ago. Still there.
