Just curious if anyone else has one of these. We recently replaced all of our ductwork and were hoping it would result in a better performing system. The bedrooms on the opposite side of the unit are still not getting enough air. They placed a distribution box on that side which has what looks like 6-8 ducts running off of it. Seems like the air would lose momentum entering that box and certainly just another spot for future leaks. We’ve had them adjust the dampers etc but still not great. Any suggestions for getting more air flow on the opposite side and if this distribution box is a problem?

Did they go back with Joval steel pipe for the runs or did they use that accordion like flex duct?

Air flows much better through smooth steel round pipe than that wavy flex duct. Steel round pipe can be hung in nice straight runs from the supply plenum to the grill box. Flex duct tends to be wavy if hung off the attic floor by being suspended with straps off the roof rafters and add to that, the inside of the flex duct has many ridges to impede the air flow.

Then consider this time of year many units catch hell trying to cool down a house with the heat and humidity we are experiencing-----well, in the N.O. area anyway.

You can try adjusting down the dampers on the grills in rooms not used as much-----if you bought grills that allow for closing them off a bit.

The only answer to affectively cool a warmer part of the house is to install a return air duct.

We placed a 12x12 in our sunroom/ kitchen area and it has made a world of difference in ambient temperature.
