Wondering how much it costs to dig a water well in the general Baton Rouge area. Gonna pay a fortune in city water trying to keep my plants and lawn alive. Just curious on price......hopefully this summer is an anomaly, but who knows with all of the climate change stuff.

Soup to nuts, in noth MS a less than 300 foot well will cost you around $12k, that's plumbing, electrical, everything. Prices have gone crazy high on the actual drilling of the well. Oh yeah, and we were on a year waitlist.

My rough calcs say electricity to pump 1000 gallons would be about 1/10th the cost of what I pay for 1000 gallons.

Friend,

You are correct. We had a well dug at our compound in Mississippi. It cost $4000 for digging and electricity five years ago and we have not seen a change in the monthly Kw usage. It is on a Ranchio remote system and we use it most days in the summer.

Our old water bill was over $500/month in the summer. Now it is less than $50.

Yours,

Usually the price structure is anything less than 200' is $6000. Each additional foot over is charged at $30/ft.

Plus mileage for the rig and water truck will be ~$6/mile. PVC, screen, drop pipe, well seal, and pump will probably run you another 2 grand.

All depends on the depth of the aquifer and size of well. A 4" well should give you plenty of water for you needs.
