Did dishwasher kick the bucket?

Bosch dishwasher. Probably 17 years old. It was running then suddenly the lights flickered and I heard a pop. Went to kitchen and some light smoke, not much, arose from the dishwasher. It won't restart of course. No power whatsoever. No lights come on, nothing.
Kaput or should I call repairman?

Make sure you haven't flipped a breaker.
I would not call a repairman on a 17 year old DW.

At 17 years old, I would be looking for a replacement, not a repair.

Check the breaker and the wiring. You might have a short in the wire somewhere. Happened to my oven wiring a couple of years ago. Lowe's or whoever we bought it from installed it by hardwiring it in, and eventually some sort of short developed.
At first I thought it was the heating element busting, since that had happened before, but it wasn't that. I had an electrician install a 220 plug there and wired the oven to plug in instead of being hardwired. I was going to have to replace that entire run of wire anyways so I thought it would be easier to have a plug instead, in case I had to remove it again.

If there was smoke something in the dishwasher fried. We always said if you let the magic smoke out, it's not gonna work later. It usually requires parts to repair. I don't think flipping the breaker will help. I would not get a repairman out unless they were replacing it with a new one.

Reset breaker. No dice. Not a single light in washer comes on

Yup. Was going to get another Bosch but Lowes had a nice deal on a Kitchenaid I bit on. Damn it's quiet.

I just had to replace a 9 year old whirlpool. Wanted to get a Bosch but they were unicorns and practically non existent. Got a kitchenaide and so far so good.
