Deck Stain Recommendations

I had a 700 sq ft wooden deck built for my pool back in July. I plan on staining it at some point next month when it starts getting a little cooler. The deck is out in full sun. We are thinking about staining it a pecan type color. Which brand is best for maintaining its color and providing the best wood protection? My hopes is for one application to last at least two years before having to restain.

I went with Defy extreme semi transparent stain. They have a full 2 step cleaning and whitening process prior to staining but since you just put yours down, it doesn’t sound like you’ll need it. I did my 275 linear ft of fence a few months ago and I was happy with the results. I sprayed on with a pump sprayer and brushed it into the wood. Their product seems to consistently get good reviews but you will pay for it. That said, you get what you pay for.

i just did ours with Behr transparent a couple weekends ago... it's went on and dried ok but the transparent cedar came out more red than expected. it's faded some since initial application but will probably redo it next summer

Sikkens Cetol Dek is what I would use.
It's expensive compared to others, but used on log homes and well regarded.
Its a PPG product now and you may be able to find it locally. The local lumber yard stocks it in Lafayette.

Lots of people recommend TWP. I’ve seen lots of recommendations for posts, but also a few people used it for decks/porches.
