ok, I get the advice to not use the self clean feature. What is suggested to clean spills in the oven?

Self clean is just really high heat, you can put your oven on 450 for a little longer and do basically the same thing

I buy these and toss it when it has some baked on spills. Cost less than $2 each

There are 3 limit switches on that oven. But it's most likely this one.
I see one is over $100 I would get the temp rating on the old one and match it up. I wouldn't pay more than $30 for this part.
I know there are gas dryer thermals with the same temp rating.

It's not as bad but what self clean is is the oven just on for set hours. Rather than cycling on and off it just comes on and stays on. This can burn up the electronics. So they put a thermal fuse to protect electronics from this.
The best way to clean an oven is with a steam gun and easy off.

Im kind of amazed that they engineer these to stay locked during a power loss.

Its not engineered to do so, as said self clean is the oven staying on. So they door locks for safety. When the power is cut off the door is locked, so it would have to have something built in like a capacitor or battery to unlock the door when power is lost.

The biggest issue IMO is that they should build in a method to mechanically unlock the doors in this situation.
