Cost to build home

Anyone currently building close to Lafayette/Crowley? What is it costing you to build your home per sq/ft? Wife and I planning on building next year. Nothing too fancy but practical... looking at building a 2,000sq/ft +/-, 4br/2ba, stained floors, etc. What are you paying and who did you use?

A little over halfway through a similar sized build now in that area. Around $160/sqft living. Own the property and handled my own dirtwork so that isn’t included in the price.

Everything I've seen on here and locally (Baton Rouge/South LA) has been anywhere between $200-$250/sq foot since COVID.

Just moved into our new build two months ago in the same area. We came in at about $136 Sq/ft. 2200 sq/ft 4bed/2.5bath. That's with upgrading to brick fireplace, huge brick archway, adding half bath. All granite counters, crown molding throughout, cathedral ceiling in living and master. I wish I'd have built about 10 years ago of course, but compared to what I hear now, I'm pleased with the place we built at that price.
The builder's basic house without a few of those things starts at around $120 sq/ft.
I own the property and also did all the dirt work, so this was just for construction.

A list of good builders on the northshore to go along with this would be great...

We just built in same area, custom home. Ended up at $180/sq ft living and $108/sq ft under roof. Very happy with the build, we didn’t skimp on materials but got some really good deals on both labor and materials. No one is building for $120/living unless you do a ton of work yourself. We self contracted but hired a consultant. Worth every penny. Manuel will make you a solid house but you won’t be in control of every aspect. They are fixed price also. We did labor cost + material cost + flat fee for consultant and we got what we paid for.
