Considering installing a 24' above ground pool with deck

Anyone know if a permit is typically required for an above ground pool install in Louisiana?
I've asked the pool company and all of the contractors who will be installing it and all of them said, "no, they've never pulled permits for this type of work." Logically thinking, it seems like this would be labeled as "temporary" since it's something that can be easily removed at any point, which leads me to believe what they are telling me is true.
The permit offices are closed due to COVID-19. I'm wondering should I just go ahead and proceed or wait until the permitting offices are open again to check. I have no idea when they will be open again and I'm tired of putting this on hold.

No, you don't need a permit to put up an above ground pool.

All you need to put in an above ground pool with deck is a visor, a pack of Salems, and a couple boxes of Franzia Chillable Red. Once pool is filled, Franzia bags will float and you can use the empty boxes to rest your Salems on. Never take the visor off, not even to go under water.

Or smart for not dumping 40-50k into an in-ground pool.....

Can't have your F350 with truck nuts if you sink that money in a real pool.

Let us know what kind of price you are getting installed. I’ve been looking for someone to install one that I would order online but can’t seem to find anyone. And getting the pool company here to do it is way more expensive.

I went to Clearwater Pools and Spa and picked out a pool package which was $4,600 for a 24' round. The installation for the pool is about $1,300.

That’s who I called but was looking for oval and semi inground. Wanted 11k for that.

From my research ovals are the most expensive to install

Exactly.
I couldn't justify the cost of going with an in ground pool when 10 years from all of my kids will be out the house. The above ground route was the more financial responsible decision for my family. I can pay cash for it, wr enjoy it for the next 10 years or so and when the kids leave I can take it down if I don't want to take care of it anymore.

I called the permit office today and they told me that a permit is needed for anything over 24" of water in depth.
I'm actually dumbfounded why they are telling me a permit is needed for a temporary structure like an above ground pool. This doesn't make any damn sense to me.

But why 24' above ground? I'm afraid of heights.

24' is the pool diameter.
