What would be a good way to protect my in ground seeds I just threw down? Temps are supposed to reach 37 in BR by tomorrow morning and 45 by Tuesday morning.

Probably should've waited to put anything down. I'm talking about regular herb and wildflower seeds.

I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. It might get below 40° for a couple of hours, and soil temps will be even slower to react.

They’ll just sit there in the soil until they’re ready.

What about any risk of frost? I’m just outside baton rouge and it always seems to get a couple degrees cooler here than in BR. I’m worried about frost on brand new landscape plants and some grass seeds that are just now starting to sprout.

They typically overestimate the cold this time of year.
Forecast says 38° now. Even if it gets that cold it won’t last but for a few minutes.

It won’t be nothing like last year when it got down to 29.

Put a blanket on ‘em if you’re concerned.

I had 70 degrees yesterday and this morning it was 26 degrees. It is now 43 degrees.

Did you just broadcast them or plant them? If they are in the ground, they should be fine. If on top, toss some pine straw on them.

I planted. They're already sprouting a tiny bit.

I LOVE the way newly germinated grass looks. Is it just me? Just makes me feel like I’m fricking the sod companies sideways by going the cheaper route

Got up at 5am to workout. Temps on the car never got below 43 degrees so that’s nice. Even though the weather app says 40, I’m pretty sure BR get it’s weather readings from BTR so it’s not necessarily indicative of the actual temperature near me.

We might hit 39° briefly.
My car always reads a bit warm…

My thermometer in the yard hit just below 38 this morning in south BR. Your seeds will be fine.

I hit 36° with a very light frost. Dewpoint was 29°. I knew I would be a few degrees colder than Baton Rouge.

Cenla had a touch heavier frost than I expected. No vegetables in the garden yet, but covered some new bush/flowerbed plantings
