I need to run an extra spin and drain cycle every load

Washer is top load whirlpool, about a year old. Worked great until about 3 weeks

So it's not spinning out enough water? Your drain hose is likely clogged.

Mine started doing that a lot.I was thinking the load was unbalanced.I would take everything out, reload it and do the drain and spin cycle. That would usually do it.

Check your lines coming from the house to the washing machine. Our water was dripping from where it fills the washing machine even when the washer wasn't on. Disconnecting them and poured some from the house towards the washing machine letting it stand in there for a while. Ran an empty load and it was fine. Calcium build up.

Checked the drain line and the water lines and all good

It seems it’s upstream of the drain outlet on back of washing machine

You might have a sock stuck in your water pump

It's possible that it caught the Covid.

Is it socially distancing from the dryer?

Take the cover off the washing machine.

Locate the drain hose, follow it to the pump, disconnect and check for a sock.

Here’s what happened to my washer
Its an LG top loader, so maybe different.
At first I noticed it wasn’t draining well, like your instance. Then I noticed essentially everything was not doing well, agitation too.
Long story short, the motherboard wasn’t sending the proper voltage (50 or so in my case) to the drain pump, thus it wasn’t opening correctly, nor was it spinning the RPMs it was supposed to
Changed the motherboard, now ok

Cost for board was around $140

I have the same issue with m Whirlpool spin cycle, I think if the load gets off balanced the first part of the spin it decides to fill the drum up again. I try to catch it before it happens if not its a big wet mess.

Check your water filter too, might be clogged and not letting water drain out.

You’ll have to take it apart and remove the water pump. It’s not as hard as it sounds.

My washer was giving me the same problem and I found that I had a small sock stuck in the pump.

YouTube and Appliance Parts Pros LINK are two helpful resources for how to replace parts.

Pretty easy to clean out. It’s that rubber boot thing. Most likely a sock.

Might need to be re-calibrated.

You ever tried this?

(btw: never takes very long)
