You’re patient as frick. I couldn’t tolerate that process.

We’ve had to spend some large chunks on this property and house since 2019.
Leveling and sod need not be one of them!

Hopefully everyone's lawns are enjoying these last few days of rainfall. I'm caught between "we been needin this" and "it's been 3 days since I could mow"

I scalped my centipede on Sunday and threw down some bermuda seed yesterday.
Hoping I get just the right amount of rain.
Converted my backyard from thick St Augustine to bermuda the last 2 months.
Didn't use seed for that.
Had about 30% bermuda and let it run.
Spoon fed nitrogen every 2 weeks and mowed every 3 days

Yup, mowed Wednesday night.
Might be able to tomorrow or I might just wait and raise maintenance level to notch 3.
No seed heads yet.

Just common that you let start taking over?
Posted on 7/19/24 at 12:43 pm to lsugrad35
Yep.
I did spend roughly an hour each day pulling remaining stolons up.
Another section I ripped up a 400sqft deck that I seeded.
Felt it would take too long to fill.
That's been around 4 weeks ago.
Used that leftover seed for the front.

What seed and how much nitrogen per application?

What seed
That’s my next question too.
Sun came out and I managed to get a cut in.

Same! Was able to maintain 7/8”
And now a downpour.
Perfect!

I went with hancocks common Bermuda. The cheapo $29.99 Per 5lb bag.
Where the deck was germination was around 5 days .
Fertilizer 30-0-0 at 1/4 rate per 1000 for the established bermuda.

I’ll be interested to see how it looks compared to the wild common.
I have the same 5 lb bag from Hancock and just haven’t bothered using it yet.
Partly because of blending concerns.

I'll take some pics over the growing season for comparison.
The wild common has started the invasion of the seeded.
Close to 2 feet blending.
Front yard has less bermuda than I thought and will be a bit of a challenge.
Have a few spots that I have cleared around the small patches of bermuda.
They should take off over the next month.
Once the backyard matures some more I will plug the hell out of it for the front yard if I need it.

More sprigging with all the rain coming.
Took from here and adding to two areas.

So much greener when tall!
Thickening with all of the rain.
Now I’m loving the sun.

Looking real good.
How are those spriggs looking after all the rain.

They were established enough to mow this morning. Too easy!

What’s your process for doing the sprigs?
