A relative has dementia and now I have his car Until I figure out what to do with it.

However, I’ve noticed that the seats in the front are slightly off color stained only on the area where a person would sit.

Sadly, I believe he was incontinent and was not able to hold his urine. So yes, I believe that his pants/shorts were soaked in urine, and therefore stained the seats.

Is this a case where you have to remove the upholstery and clean it because on a Lexus RS replacing it is around $5000.

And I’d like to try to get away with just conditioning. Anybody have any clues on what type of professional person to use to do this?

I really don’t feel like doing it myself. I do not live in Louisiana.

There are places online that sell replacement seat covers. If you are somewhat handy, you can DIY. Check YouTube.

I’m not sure I have the patience for that.

Lots of steps and less time.

My ex wife vomited in a nearly brand new Uber, in the cracks in the seats, the carpet, the seatbelt anchors, etc. Try taking it to a detailer (the less English spoken the better.) It may be worth $200 just to find out the best you can get without replacing or re-upholstering stuff. They may have to go tothe point of unbolting the seats to get in the nooks and crannies. People have animals piss in cars all the time, right?

I believe this to be over a period of two years where he did not know he was wetting himself or simply could not stop it and maybe superficially wiped it down.

If that’s the case it must reek inside. Probably soaked into cushions and carpeting.

Sounds very steep, but I don't know the year of the car and how rare the trim model was.

May need to do some legwork to save some money.

1) Search for takeoff seats from salvage yards, online forums, and ebay. Having the factory part number will help.
2) On that note, if you have the factory part number OEM parts can be had from online dealers at up to 40% off retail.
3) Take it to an upholstery shop to explore replacing with non-factory leather and foam.
4) As others have said try a pro-level detail shop first to see what can be done without replacement.

Hope this helps.
