So I’m having a contractor add on to my house with a 1200 sqft patio. Cathedral ceiling that will be stained a mid brown. Can’t figure out what to do for floor though. I like the stained and stamped concrete concept. I also like tile. But have a pool that the patio will adjourn to. So don’t know if tile is the best idea. What color concrete or tile looks best with this. TIA

If you do tile, make sure it’s a matte finish. I’d go with stained concrete.

you can stain the concrete. I would not recommend any type of stamped overlay. I had nightmares with our delaminating and flaking off and it all went to shite and had to have it redone. Our pool is adjoining the patio also, and we just did the whole thing to match the sundek that surrounds the pool. it looks good and has held up well

Mine is slate tile and I love it. Built the house 10 years ago and it has held up well and looks great.

And this is why I came to this board.. Lol. Dont have much experience with this. Bought the house two years ago and finally adding the porch/patio.

What color stain did you go with?

Where are you located and is the contractor adding on to your existing house or a change while being built?

Thinking about adding a patio on the back of our existing home and looking for a contractor to give an honest price and breakdown.

I’m in the Cenla area. Adding on and tieing it in to my house. The current patio was way too small and needed something built to entertain and also enjoy the pool area. What I found between the different bids is basically the labor is costing me just as much as materials. So if you can estimate how much your materials are going to cost, go ahead and multiply that by 2, and you should come close to overall price.

I'm in Prairieville and looking to do a similar build. My plan is to tie/nail into the existing rafters w/o having to open the roof because I have spray foam on the inside of my roof deck.

I just did all of this to my house adding on etc. I just sealed the concrete and it turned out looking like it was stained not mad about the decision at all.

I would just sun deck the whole area and add a outdoor rug to any area thatva table and chair will be to avoid shipping it up
