Brick column removal

I have brick columns at the corners of our pool. Fencing is attached. Due to the drought (I think) the sections of concrete deck are significantly separating.
I need to remove the brick columns. They are 2 foot square and 4 feet high. I would like to keep them intact and not just sledge hammer them. Of course they are cemented to the pool deck.
Is there some type of saw I can saw these things away at the base? Or what?

you can cut them with a masonry saw but it won’t be at the base. If you need to cut flush you can try a side grinder with a masonry blade. Brick is easier to cut cleanly if you do it at a grout joint

Thanks! Any particular saw that would be easier to hold sideways?
And , are these columns going to “stay together “ , or probably fall apart when I move them?

You can rent them, they are a chainsaw with a masonry blade for cutting stone or concrete. Wear hearing and eye protection plus respirator

as long as the mortar isnt cracked they will come out as a solid piece by cutting through the mortar with a jig saw and masonry diamond blade, or you can use 4" side grinder with masonry diamond cutting disk and safety glasses.
cut through the mortar seam at the top of the bottom brick all the way around and it will be loose. then use a chisel and hammer to pop off the bottom row of brick so they can be reused.
but its gonna be a 200-300 lbs beast to move when you think about the weight of just one brick. you better have a way to do something with moving it, or try to cut it into smaller sections.
honestly its best to just take it down a brick at a time and then use it back after you redesign the pool.
a hammer and chisel in the mortar crack is all you need to pop the bricks loose and they will pop loose way easer then you think. go watch youtube video on removing bricks you want to reuse

To keep them from cracking, maybe get some angle iron and ratchet strap to the corners (assuming they are not round) and move them with a dolly.

This or get some 2X4’s screw them into a L and ratchet strap them at the corners.
