I want to get some blown in fiberglass between/atop my ceiling joists to around R30 (10-11”). Anyone do this lately? Who’d you use and what’d you pay per square foot? NOLA area.

Go to Home Depot and rent the machine.

Machine is free if you buy enough insulation.

look into blown cellulose too. It cuts infiltration better than fiberglass and when you cap fiberglass with cellulose it will improve the performance of the existing fiberglass in addition to the added performance of the cellulose.

And then return whatever insulation you didn't use if you didn't need that much. They won't charge you for the machine after the fact.

No one gave an actual company so in case you aren’t willing to do it yourself, Mr. Green Jeans Insulation. They have been recommended to me by multiple people in nola. They quoted me $2K for a 2200ish Sqft attic. Included other small items such as light covers. I’m in an old house so will do it one day but have been meaning to do a clean out of the attic first.
