I have some erect thornless cultivars in rows that I raised about a 1 ft or so above ground level. They grow fine. No reason I can think of that it shouldn’t work just fine for you by planting them in raised beds. .

You have to try to grow blackberries in Louisiana?
I have been picking up to a gallon a week for a few weeks now and we don't have the first planned planting.... they grow under our privacy shrubs and under our pool deck. I just knock em down during pool season, the rest of the year I let them grow. Enough vines grow in the fall to produce berries in the spring. I honestly don't know how to kill them... I don't eat them...

How much sun do they get?
I’d like to plant some in an area where it doesn’t get full sun.

I have two large live oaks that shadow most of them. They get good morning sun but anything after noon they are 90% in the shade. I know there are two different types, one has bigger berries made up of smaller spheres and on has smaller berries made of bigger spheres and both grow fine.

I’ve got a couple of bush-type plants in pots and they are loaded with berries….no reason you shouldn’t be able to raise them in raised beds as well.

I did it. 2 raised beds @ 2x2x8. Put 3 bushes in each bed. I drove 4 t post on the corners and put hog wire so the bushes would grow up through it. It keeps the branches more erect and easier to mow around. I planted strawberries all around the perimeter. Works great and easy to mow around.

The more sun they get the better. They will grow in pretty much anything as long as it doesn’t stay wet. The extended sunlight will make the berries sweeter.

Erect thornless varieties - Apache, Arapaho, Natchez, Ouachita, Ark Prime Freedom. I have all 5. I’ve been most impressed the Arapaho, followed by Ark Prime Freedom.

I have a bunch growing in my Azaleas and boxwoods in my front yard. This is my 3rd summer in the house. The first year I had 1 or 2 vines that I cut back into the azaleas, 2nd year I picked a few berries and waited until after they finished setting fruit to trim them back. This year they exploded and we have been picking a medium size bowl every day for the last week.
My bushes are looking like shite but I refuse to clean everything up until the blackberries quit producing.
