Best piece of equipment for trimming tops of small trees?

I've got some crepe myrtles and pear trees that need some trimming on the top, as well as an oak and pine tree that needs trimming towards the bottom. The trim work is all between 15 and 24 feet high.
I was thinking about renting a 35 ft Towable Boom Lift from Home Depot for $200. Bad move?

Pole Pruner.
We use ours all the time. It’s great.

For $200 you could buy a decent gas or electric pole saw.

I have a pole saw that gets me an extra 8 ft. The other day I backed my utility trailer up next to the tree and put a ladder on top of that. I started looking for more shite I could stack to get more height but then said, nah this might not be the smartest thing.

That's all I got then because my solution to your problem was pole saw + ladder.

yea there's no real good way to do it without the proper equipment. Also, why do the crepes need trimming on top?

Some of the crepe myrtles shot straight up an extra 8ft over the past few years while some have remained "normal" and grew an extra 2ft or so. I'm not cutting all the green parts off. Just the upper 1/3 of the green part to make them match.

Keep in mind, with crepe myrtles, wherever you cut one limb, two more grow from that point.

Just let the trees grow up....why do they need to "match"? Give them another year and they'll even out.
Crape myrtles are not box hedges.
