In the market for a leaf vac/mulcher & came here looking for some insight.

I have 3 large magnolia trees in yard that are dropping leaves like crazy.

wanting something that can handle that bulky of a leaf. electric or gas doesn't matter to me. just looking for something that is durable.

anyone have any experience with these?? what brands to stay away from??

I don't know about a vacuum (because I haven't had to use this feature), but they have some solid deals at Lowes right now. I got a Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher for $40.. it was a cord/electrical one, though.

I might be wrong, but I'd think that just about any blower/vac/mulcher would have a tough time with Magnolia leaves.

Would mow them and catch them in the grass catcher not be better and faster?

Only thing that will handle those leaves is one of these Billy Goat TKV. I have a much cheaper Troy-bilt yard vac for the oaks around my house but it doesn't handle Magnolia leaves very well. No handheld leaf vac will work.

If you have a mower that can handle it, the Cyclone Rake can handle that with ease.

I bought the cheap echo this year. It’s not very good. The port into the bag clogs and eventually blows the bag off. There is one for $399 that may work better. I will be returning the one I bought.
