Bathroom vent heater not working

Bathroom vent has 3 controls:
Light
Fan
Heater
Heater clicks on for half a second before shutting off. Both light and normal fan work. Should I just go ahead and get a new one or is there a super easy/inexpensive fix that someone in here has dealt with before?

What brand?
I have a Broan that had some loose and burned connections/wiring that I fixed up.
Many are modular and you can just buy a repair part. Otherwise, trying to find one to match the cutout in your ceiling may be challenging.

Just attempted again. It kicked on for about 3 seconds with some air flow then it shut off completely.

That's a Broan. YouTube has a couple of videos on how to troubleshoot/repair.
Good news is that you can probably get a replacement to fit in that cutout if you are unable to fix that one.

The heating element might have an inline thermal fuse. They are a few bucks on eBay. Change it on both of mine. Different brand I'm pretty sure though. Looks like this, can check if current will flow through with a multimeter.

I doubt it's the fuse because it runs briefly. Blown fuse probably would not.
May be a broken heating element that opens up when it heats up.

The picture you posted looks like a model 663 Broan. Here is an Amazon page of replacement parts for Broan exhaust/heater fans.

I have Panasonic vent/fan/heater which is similar to Braun. The heater module costs about $35. Swapping out requires that the squirrel-cage fan be moved aside. That's a bit tricky working above your head... sharp metal parts, but OK DIY project. I've never tried just replacing the failed thermal switch in the module. It's riveted in place. For a heavily used unit it fails in about 5 years. A less used unit just died at 20 years. Nice to have working on cold mornings.

These have a built in thermal overload. It's like a $2 part on Amazon. Simply change the thermal fuse/ overload and your good to go.

That’s a Broan/Nutone. You can order a replacement heating unit. Remove cover and you unplug heater and a few screws.

If you want an easy fix. Buy the same make and model, remove inset unit, replace with new unit. Leave the metal casing, put in new inset, replace new cover.
