In my backyard flower bed, I planted 3 azalea bushes. 1 has been thriving for years and the other 2 have struggled due to what I think is planting them too low. I ripped the other 2 out and bought two more and planted this spring. They were doing fine until about a week ago. They went from blooming and green to literally dead as a door knob in a week. I'm at a lost. Once I saw them struggling, I watered them every other day and added a fertilizer and neither helped at all. Any ideas? This is my second set that has died but it's just so weird that the one right next to them is thriving

Excessive heat might be playing a role

I've had middling success with azaleas through the years. Some have thrived, some have nor. I think they need a good balance of sun/ shade , good watering, good soil

Azaleas do not like to be watered everyday. I know it's hard not to right now, with new plants, but stretch it as long as you can. The healthiest appearing azaleas, loropetalums, and gardenias are always the ones that rely on mother nature.

You probably have a fungus on there or root rot. Had to tear out a 10' section b/c the roots were all dead and extremely brittle. Sucked too b/c I've had them for 10+ years.

I have these issues with Encore Azaleas. Have no issues with Formosa.

I have had the exact same problem with Encore Azaleas.
Planted 5 spring a year ago. 3 died last fall so I replaced them. Now 4 look dead and 1 looks like it’s barely hanging on.
I think I’m done with Azaleas.
