Grew up with one. They can be a tad heavy, but nothing crazy.

Have seen some with backpack straps.

The gaskets wear out after about 2 or so years, but you can buy replacement gaskets in a RoundUp gasket kit that gets your old sprayers working again. The Dewalt sprayers at Home Depot seem more robust, so I pay a a little bit more for them, but they work very well.

I've had good luck with my HDX units from Home Depot. I have one for pesticides, one for herbicides and another for spraying nutritional sprays for my citrus plants.

I always clean them out every few uses and I always make sure the gaskets are in good condition. So far I've been going on 4 years with these with no problems. I think the best thing is to make sure you clean them up and in your off season don't leave chemicals in them to turn into gunk.

Ditto on a Ace Hardware 2 gal.

Another vote. I had a couple of the Home Depot ones that lasted maybe 2-2.5 years at best, and bought one from Ace several years back that is still going strong. I mainly spray for insects, and occasionally some weed killer. Just empty it out and run some clean water through it before putting it away. Of course I did that with the HDX versions as well but something always ended up clogging or breaking regardless.

I was in need of a quality sprayer too so this thread inspired me to purchase a 2 gallon battery powered sprayer by Lesco at Lowe's. I'll report back on the quality. (fingers crossed)

HDX is the exact brand I've bought a few times. They usually last me 2 years tops. It's probably more of an issue with me than with the actual sprayer i guess.

I use a 2 gallon Solo tank sprayer (and Solo backpack sprayer) and very happy with it. No issues with it after 4 or 5 years but replacement parts are available to buy if needed. LINK

And like you I bought the cheap ones from the box stores and usually replaced them every year or 2. Not any more.

Used the Solo sprayer for the first time yesterday. Feels pretty heavy duty, especially compared to my old HDX. Thanks again for the tip. Will probably buy a 1 gallon version when my small HDX gives out.
