Curious about vigor in Louisiana and whether I should look to get 2 different varieties for production. I know that Coolidge and Unique (New Zealand cultivar) are totally self-fertile but there is wide disagreement about the rest. Would love to hear your experience.

Have several, not sure of exact variety, but they thrive in South Louisiana, almost to the point of being a pain in the arse keeping them trimmed

I had a nice one in Baton Rouge for 10 years fruiting heavily. Then it suddenly died with bark peeling right at the base. All my viburnum died at about the same time... a fungus?

great shrub
the fruit is tasty and the flowers are edible. Pick the flower petals and put them in a salad, delicious

I planted two last year. I bought them from Clegg’s but don’t know what variety they are. They haven’t fruited yet, but the flower petals are surprisingly sweet with a bit of spice.

Have one in Shreveport that has thrived since 2008. I prune it back severely from time to time, and it comes back like jungle.
