They are about to start work for me. They are a quality company but tend to run a little higher than others

I called them to do a pool install. Sent them a bunch of information that they requested and they never got back to me so ended up going with Russel Pool, who took awhile but eventually called me back.

TIFWIW, since then, I've been told by someone who would know and would have no reason to lie about it, that they have more outstanding lawsuits filed against them than any other construction co in the area.

This is exactly what happened to me.

I was told this about Makaira although I have no idea if it's true. One thing I know about the local pool companies is that they all talk shite about each other. More than any other industry that I've experienced. Every pool company I talked to had nothing but shitty things to say about everyone else except Russell and GW Oliver. They all tried to compare themselves to those two. A lot of pool companies started out as landscape companies and became pool people b/c they saw that a pool is fairly easy and very profitable. So there are only a few companies that have been at it for a while and most are relatively new to the game.

Sounds like they have an MO. They wasted my time as well. Came out to my job to give me a bid on some work. I had detailed plans, etc. I followed up several times and no bid.

I took time off of work to meet with them and they didn’t have the balls to say “sorry, we aren’t interested.” Instead they just kept promising they’d have a bid “next week.” frick them. I found someone else.

Pool, decking and Patio covering. My experience has been different. They have always been on time and quick to respond.

This hit right here. Except they finally sent me a bid and it was for someone else's job. Really pissed me off they wasted both of our time.

I just don't understand a company's rationale behind this. If you do this as a business practice, eventually it is going to bite you. Just take a few minutes to say that you are too busy to do the job, seems like that would be a lot better for business than just ghosting someone.

Had Pinnacle come out April 2020 to look at patio cover, outdoor kitchen, and outdoor fireplace. They requested house plans. sent them copy of house plans. Never heard back. Wore them out for a response. Sent me a quote for $38k Told them no frickin way. Basically a "quit calling us, we dont want this job so we price it high and if we get it great, if not no biggie." They built a modern fence for my buddys business. Horizontal 1x6s interweaved into the 4x4s. About half the boards have popped off less than 2 years later. I'd pass on them

Depending on details, appliances, etc. $38k isn't crazy in this market.
