I just bought some Taurus SC and plan to trench around my house. Looks like 6inch wide 6inch deep trench all the way around required. Any tips to speed this process?

1st: Get all utilities around your house marked AND located.

Just buy a trench shovel that has a longer, narrower blade to dig your trench.

I did this around a brick house I had years ago and a friend of mine who was an exterminator came out and saturated the trench with termite spray. I back-filled it and he treated that soil as it went back in to complete the job.

It only gets hard if you have heavy clay soil. And if you do, have a 5 gallon bucket of water on hand to dip the blade of the shovel in from time to time to help the clay slide off more easily.

Seriously doubt your utilities are only 6 inches underground. Just be real careful where they come up along the house like gas lines or electrical if run underground.

I need to do this to my shop. How will you apply the chemical? Just mix in 5 gallon bucket and pour?

That's how I did it last summer for a lady friend who had a utility/storage shed at the end of her driveway when she discovered termites in there.

I dug a trench around the entire structure, mixed the chemical in a 5 gallon bucket and saturated the area. Then as I back-filled, I poured the same concentrated mixture on the soil put back in.

Then to kill the ones already in the wood quickly, I just used my 2 gallon sprayer to hit the wood on the interior of the shed since it was exposed framing with no sheetrock or other covering.

I saw the “pros” use a pick axe to trench all around the house and then just mix in a 5 gallon bucket and pour
