Got a BGE a couple of weeks ago and I want to build a table for it this weekend and was curious if any of y'all have any recs on plans or ideas? I would like to put some small casters on it so I can roll it around when I'm cleaning the patio or smoking heavy on it.

I've got a large in a nest--I like the fold down side tables, as the compact footprint means I can roll it into the garage during severe weather. I don't really like the idea of a flammable wooden table surrounding my BGE.

I have a little mini--I put it into a prefab metal wire shelving type cart by simply clipping a round hole in the top shelf and dropping it in. The bottom rests on the second wire shelf. Dunno that this would work with a larger, heavier model.

This was actually for my FIL grill (not BGE). This was before I added the top and shelf obviously but wanted to give and idea as to the build.

Joinery is pocket screws.
I really don’t remember the dimensions but I can try to get them.

I think I ended up with the table at 33” deep and around 52” long. It was 6 boards wide which would be ~ 33”.

ETA: there is a slight over hang on the board from the frame, maybe .75" or so. Just FYI.

I built one like this in 2005 and it held up for many years. 4 moves later, it gave out and I had to make a change. I bought the nest with the side tables. Like someone said, it is compact and easy to move but damn is it expensive.

I’d think about putting a drawer under your Egg that would hold a removable plastic bucket. You could simply open the drawer, and rake your ashes right into it, then close it up when you’re done.

Eggs are heavy. I’d go with big, heavy casters, and make the front two lockable.

Lots of good info on this website. I took basic plans and tweaked them from some of these pics.

tons of great ideas on there, thanks.

I do have the nest, I'm just itching to build something at the moment.

I built a frame very similar to this one and put a 1.5” think concrete counter on top of it. It was my first time building out concrete countertops and came out great considering. They are super easy to maintain and wipe down easily which makes them perfect for this setup IMO.

The only drawback, that sonofabitch must weight 700lbs. It’s on casters, but I think it’s staying whenever I move.

This guy built a beautiful one, but it is big. No casters.

You will want relatively big wheels for ease of moving. I don’t understand why most have such tiny wheels.

What did you finish it with? Did it hold up in the weather?
