I have a gas Ryobi with a Honda engine. Works like a champ. The only complaint is the hose that comes with it is very stiff and aggravating (O/T people insert joke here) so I bought a flexible hose.

I bought a cheap $100 Greenworks electric pressure washer from Lowe's about 5 years ago to leave at my camp for washing my side by side. Didn't use it like I thought I would so brought it home and have been using it to wash my house, garage, patio, shop, pump house, & all cement twice a year with zero issues. I also bring it to the camp and wash the camp & porch once a year. Use it to wash our vehicles & side by side a few times a year. When it goes out, I'll be getting another one. If you use the right cleaners, you don't need a big washer.

I came to ask if the electric ones are worth a crap, I am committed to not buying anymore small engines in my life. As to the cleaners, I think cleaners vs. pressure accomplish different things. Yes there is dirt that pressure can shear away, but you aren't blasting away an oil based stain in most cases. I can see needing pressure in some cases and the right cleaner in others.

Honda engine, CAT pump, and pump saver after every usage...I have a 20 year old pressure washer with the Honda engine and CAT pump and use it frequently...still runs great...

Resurrecting this old thread as I'm in the market for a gas pressure washer. It will be a Christmas present for me in the 4-500 dollar range. Leaning towards Simpson but still open. Prefer to avoid axial pumps.
Anyone run across deals on pressure washers this week or see any set for Black Friday?

GPM is more important than PSI.
Nozzle reaction (cleaning) force increases linearly with GPM, but only with the square root of nozzle pressure.

So GPM is vastly more important. Source

ETA:

A quality pressure washer is easy to spot because 1) the pump will have a serviceable oil reservoir so it's not a sealed Chinese axial cam pump with a 200 hour service life, and 2) it'll have a Honda engine so it starts on the first pull and will have parts available 20 years from now.

Just about every pressure washer maker slaps its own label on the Chinese engine knock-offs used on low-end models so a Ryobi, Simpson, or Predator-branded engine might all come from the same China factory.

A 2.5 GPM Simpson machine with a Honda engine and longer-lasting triplex pump, currently $599 at Lowe's, is here.
