Quick question on my unit and if anyone can help. My unit will run it's course and after it runs my pump will go for about 1-2 minutes making the unit run. While its running the air does not come out. Is this a relay switch issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it's usually the other way around. the air handler should run about 15 seconds after the condensor shuts down to dry the evaporator coil. Is it a heat pump?

Yes it has a heat pump which is located inside. We had heat fixed this winter now it's looking like the a/c is messing up.

I think we need a bit more info here:

- Heat pumps provide both cooling and heating. They are located outside your home. It will have a coil with a large horizontal oriented fan in the top that blows air up sucking it through the coil below. It might have a side fan if you have a mini split system.
- The blower will be located indoors either within an air handling unit (which will have electric strips for aux heating) or a furnace that would use gas for aux/emergency heat.

Which pieces are starting/stopping and when?

The one that is inside with the ducts will run after the outside one runs its cycle. And just the fan runs outside while not making cold air inside. If that makes it any more helpful, I'm an idiot in this type of department!

this is called the air handler unit. All air handlers run about 10-20 seconds once the outside condensing unit shuts off.

it's not supposed to at all. Sounds like you have a contactor sticking/going bad.

it was an educated guess. I'm just telling you what the HVAC tech that you should call to check it out will more than likely tell you is wrong.

When in cooling mode you should expect the outside unit to run for 10-15 seconds maybe longer before indoor blower starts. This allows the interior coil to cool faster and remove humidity better.

it also works in reverse when it starts up, the outdoor unit turns on for a minute to get circulation going and the indoor coil cold before the heater fan comes on so it doesnt blow warm air for the first minute it runs.

i understand this but I was just commenting on what he said he was experiencing. The shutting down of the system.
