I have a little Graco sprayer and have some rooms to spray my trim. Using Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane trim paint. I've tried to decipher the material data and the 3M website but not 100% on the correct filtration.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Am I trying to block particles or organic vapors? I suspect solids. My first room I used a K94 mask I had + neck gator and I still had a good film of paint around my nose creases.

Organic vapors. I am assuming you are looking at a half mask respirator so just get the P100 filters they are used for gases and organic vapors.

This will cover everything for less than $25. It's an auto paint respirator.

P100 is a particulate filter. Some can protect against nuisance odors. For complete protection a combination particulate/OV filter is proper. This is a common filter. For example, 3m a p100 with organic vapor will be black and pink. Black being their color for OV and pink is p100.

The 3M 2097 is particulate and a little organic vapor protection. Probably good enough for what you are doing. Cheaper than the 60921.

3M 60923/P100 combo should be good. LINK Ask the guys at Sherwin Williams to be sure, they will look up the SDS and tell you for sure.

Should work for vapors but i guess solids could stop any of them up.

store the cartridges in a zip-top bag when not using them. They have a lifespan once taken out of the package.

Or you could go all crazy and get one of these: LINK

I appreciate all the input. I ended up grabbing one of these from HomeDepot

OV | P95 Respirator

I used it last night to spray the trim in one bedroom and it worked great. I could smell nothing and zero trace of any paint made it through. I'm sure it was 99.9% better than my "covid" mask and neck gaiter.

I did have the thought to keep it in a ziplock, so thats what I did.

Is that the Guin plant? Don't they mostly make reflective films?

I've used this filter when spraying oil base on doors and furniture finishing. I've also used it to spray a pickup truck, my motorcycle and a few body parts for other people and found it more than sufficient.

What I generally do is put on the mask and then take an old t-shirt and use the neck hole over the mask so I can see and the rest of the t-shirt covers my head and neck to help keep any overspray off the hair and skin.
