There's a decent enough group of tech guys here that do a fair amount of step-by-step answering of questions. It's in its infancy, but if that board goes the right way, it could eventually start generating traffic to the site that wouldn't have come here if thread titles stay good and the responses stay strong. I suppose it could happen in a more consolidated board, but it seems like it would be a bit more cluttered.

I agree with Rome. The balkanization of boards result in a dearth of diverse perspectives on topics of broad interest. Let's face it, the specialized boards result in factions of like minded individuals (cons on Poli, rednecks on OB, nerds on Tech, pretentious on Music...). What if I wanted the opinions of different folks on a poli/camping/phone/album topics?

I like all the different boards even if I don't go on half of them. It keeps the topics I don't care about off the boards I do care about.
