There are many admins that posters will never know that are admins. Some of them don't even show up in the list of users online.

One thing that might be considered is to have official staff names for admin. They could still have their own anonymous lurk names to carry on as ordinary rantards, but when acting in official TD capacity, they'd use the staff names. Pretty much all the major services do it that way, or used to, anyway.
