It's more of a way to keep order to the board. If alters are allowed, then who would care if they got banned? What would stop them from porn bombing, or posting racist rants, etc. You want the illusion that alters aren't allowed, else no one will fear the banhammer.

Why do you care? 
I have easiest way to fix alters.
Just have a scheduled time out while banned.
If you get banned your pm should say 2 weeks or 2 months or whatever.
Begging to get reinstated fricking sucks.
Everybody knows this.

I don't care about the idea itself of an alter. If someone wants to post on multiple accounts, I literally could not care less. Post away.
The problem is when people constantly flame and troll AFTER having been banned for the exact same thing. There is a CLEAR difference between someone have a few accounts and posting between them all (fine), and someone who gets banned for being a horrendous poster, then signing up for a new name and doing the exact same thing, then getting banned after a week and doing that same cycle over again nonstop (not fine). There's no way you can't see why that would be annoying.

At least he posts "normally". Like I said I don't have a problem with the idea of an alter alone.
Really, the only place you see this being an issue is the SECR. Chris has probably what, 100 different names by now? But at least all he does with each new one is post stupid arse questions on the OT. People on the SECR create new names simply for the purpose of flaming and trolling.
