i don't think he needs to go, but i do think he needs some help.

I think the cat probably has some serious issues IRL and he often says things he knows will get a rise out of people (again, IRL issues), but he brings some good stuff to the site as well. Not grounds for being banned, IMO.

He has been much better this time around.... He has keep he bullshite contained to certain threads instead of littering the board with it

Did you see the remake of Conan? It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I assume you are thinking of the original, which isn't good, but isn't nearly as bad as this newly made abomination.

Oh. No, I did not. I suppose that clears up the discrepancy somewhat. You have been redeemed in my eyes.



P.S. -- While the original did not particularly excel at acting or technical details, it formed a very good story in a Joseph-Campbell-esque mythological sense, and moreover, forever enriched society by explaining to us the "riddle of steel."

Thulsa Doom, asks the captured Conan, "What is the riddle of steel?" Doom answers this question by explaining to Conan that the true strength of steel is in the hand that wields it – in other words, it is the resolve and commitment we bring to a task, not the quality or quantity of tools we use in performing it, that is the most important factor in determining success. P.P.S. -- It also has one of the best pre-battle scenes in movie history. Not as good as the one in Glory, perhaps (see the pre-battle prayer meeting here), but Conan's prayer to Crom is about as good as it gets from the pagan perspective--sort of a Young Guns II or a Dylan Thomas "do not go gentle" type of theme. (Note that the best battle scene itself has to go to the Battle of Guagamela in Alexander.)

Ehhh, maybe. I must admit that I wasn't entirely serious in this thread, even though it is true that I very much bought into the storyline of Conan as a little kid, and that the symbolism of a few scenes are still stirring to me.

Avenging past wrongs done to a father has always been a strong theme in my life...
