i wasn't talking about that. i didn't really disagree with your original post. though, i don't think that what you pulled from the thread warranted this type of response:

"watch the game. it was really, really good." =/= "frick you. i'm an soccer snob. you should just watch it"

i was talking about this specifically:

quote:

Yet, I deal with tards talk about "going golfing" and their 300+ yard drives all the time without being an elitist prick.

...which is why i quoted it

That's fine, I don't have a problem with it. The board just needs to understand not everyone who posts there or asks a question is as devoted as they are...

For instance, I had no idea scores weren't posted in the thread title because of time difference. Figured it was just "typical soccer board" trying to keep people out.

I love the soccer board. It keeps all that stuff of the MSB. Now if you want to talk useless boards, the outdoor board and the Hornets board belong on top of the list.

i think most on both boards, including those who post on both, agree

soccer just creates a lot of venom for whatever reason

i think the problem you ran into was more of a bunch of people still freaking out over the game than anything else

they didn't want to sit there and post the summary b/c of that...not b/c they're soccerfags

naw

there's a real reason why the people who start threads often go along with that unwritten rule

So how is being defensive being pretentious? I don't feel like I'm trying to make myself or soccer fans out to be better than others as much as I'm saying to stay on your own lawn if you don't like the sport. I don't go into other sport threads and try to offend the fans of the sports, and I'd appreciate the same decency. I'd say the same thing to someone who goes onto the Hornets board or Saints board or LSU board just to down the people there for no reason.

Unlike the CWS, there are a ton of leagues that we follow. EPL, La Liga, SPL, Ligue 1. Transfers. Euros.

Can't turn off the board.
90% or more of the people who visit the board regularly like the rule and it's not that difficult of a rule to follow. I don't see why it's such a big deal to someone who rarely posts on the board.

That's because soccer is like the 6th most popular sport in America, and some people will never come to grips with that. A lot more people don't care about soccer then do care about soccer. All the best players go to play in another country and USA men typically blow in the WC. Those two things alone are reason enough for me to not follow.

And this means that attacking soccer is the right thing to do? If you don't like it, ignore it.

Go back and look at the language you have been using in your previous posts and tell me that you were using "decency".

how have i just seen this?

im sorry i didnt give you a summary man. I guess everyone on the soccer board sucks now though just because three people didn't do what you wanted but two did.

but to be for real, you asked for a summary ten minutes right after one of the most intense games in recent history ended. We were celebrating still, it wasn't anything personal against you, we were too caught up in the emotions to think about all that happened in the game and type out a summary.

You're missing my point. After people come out of the woodworks to attack the sport or the fact that there's a place for it, I'm going to be defensive, annoyed, and use language. My point was that I would never go to the Outdoor board and say "Got a bunch of old buck chasin', tobacco chewin' fairies in here with an undeserved board." By all means, I was intending to be a dick (not necessarily to the OP but the assholes who followed bashing the sport), but not unwarranted.
