other boards have youtube embed.

i don't get why tweets are difficult to implement. they already have it for the articles that Leo post.

I'm on a forum elsewhere using XenForo and the features are, I'll say, phenomenal. Embedding anything is easy. Reply features are great. There are tons of text editing features.

Obviously, I have no idea what it takes to run a forum like this, but if Chicken ever wants to upgrade - maybe worth investigating.

XenForo

Bring the downvotes.

It’s not that it is difficult

They just don’t want the idiots on this board to have the ability to do it for Twitter or YouTube

i can see it being an "issue" during the infancy stage if it were to ever be implemented, but it would die down pretty quick i'd think once the "new" factor wears off.

i mean, just look at images that get imbedded everyday. is the site getting overrun by these? no, they're not. after a month or so, they automatically get converted to a link anyways. same could happen for tweets.

Since I got a private message from an admin telling me I will be banned if I start another thread, I am hijacking this one to ask my question.

Can we be adults about this?

I started a thread about two passengers on a plane fighting over mask. I thought it was funny. Some woman goes yell at the old man and he calls her out for being a hypocrite.

Evidently it was posted, but I am sure a lot of people, like myself, hasn't been around much the past several days to see it. For the people who haven't seen it, like myself, it was a legit thread. So can an admin explain to me why I can't start a thread?

I swear I am not starting threads with the main purpose of "seeking attention" and it doesn't appear I am doing anything different than anyone else.

The only thing I can see is that when certain people come into my thread and I respond to something they post to me... All of sudden I am getting banned or told I can't start anymore threads.

So if an admin can be more specific as to what the problem is, I would appreciate it.

from a previous thread on youtube embed

Imo, it was ruined by just the regular posters. You had posters just going out of their way to post videos cluttering up the board. I mean is it really that amazing that you can embed the videos in the thread? Apparently so

A tech savvy poster exposed a problem in the code and showed how it could be exploited. It was axed after that

Tigerdroppings could have a much larger social media footprint. They have tons of followers across many platforms & the content put out is just basic, mundane crap

The only message board I ever posted on before TD was ESPN, which they don't have anymore. Other message boards are just too clustered and difficult to navigate through.

If it was able to keep updated with other information as well it would get more traffic.. There is a website call fansided and I hate that fricking website because when I google for a player status or something its one of the first sites that pop up and its pure clickbait. With articles that seem to be written by 5th graders.

So if that shite site can come up as a top google result for a lot of sports related topics I google, this site could get a lot more traffic if a few changes were made, but that would require a lot more work to go into it.

But that still will not change the fake an admin told me if I start another thread I will be banned and I can get a reasonable answer so they can explain exactly what I am doing wrong other than having several posters dislike me to the point they are probably RAing me.

So instead of fixing the exploit, they just turn it off all together and decide to stay in 2007 mindset?

You’ve even managed to taint the Help Board of all places with your incessant whining about this in multiple threads.

Once upon a time they tried to roll out a video embed feature and the site crashed. No more video embeds after that.

If I remember correctly, a poster was using the video embed feature to hack the site, then begged Chicken for a job to fix the loophole.
