re: So what would be the rules/guidelines of a Religion & Philosophy Board?

It seems most are against having a religion board, which makes sense.
I still want a Philosophy, Science, & Morality board where various religious digressions can be moved to if need be. Not sure how much traffic it would generate, but I think it would have a nice cult following with people like myself, Enadious, LSUSaintsHornets, Hemp Head, gmorgan, etc.

"Most" are not against it just because you are. On top of that, you apparently are not against it per your own quote above.
I can see from this thread most are in favor of the new board.
By the way, thanks for putting us over 200, the board will be opening soon.

All we can deduce (assuming the validity of what I've quoted) is that there are many users that have posted in this thread that may be in favor of the board. However, that figure likely represents an exceptional minority among active users overall.
Additionally, that figure represents a vocal minority. This thread positively selects for those in favor of the board, as those interested in such a board are more likely to not only open this thread, but to voice their support. A group of people shouldn't be recognized and answered to simply because they scream loud enough.
In fact, I would posit that most who have voiced their support of the board would prefer religion threads to be kept on PT, as they have been for years.

But that's not an option. The options are a new "religion" board or no religious discussion at all. From what I am seeing many agree religious and philosophical questions should have a place on TD.

What?

That doesn't mean that most are in favor of a "religion" board. There are several posters in here who have chimed in saying that moving religion away from the Political Talk board is dumb. For others, it's hard to tell what their opinions are concerning what the proposed new board should cover. You yourself were the first person to recommend a "worldviews" board, and now you're trying to tell me that everybody wants a "religion" board instead? I don't understand.
The most obvious criticism of having a religion board, as attested to by Chicken himself, is that not all religious threads would go there. I think everyone is willing to admit that even if you had a board that was straight up just called "Religion Board," there would still be many, many, many threads that would get moved to the O-T Lounge or Political Talk boards instead, because they would involve anecdotal observations/requests, or else almost purely political current events.
Logically speaking, I think it's clear that a 3rd more abstract category is needed, and that category is most definitely not religion per se. Practically speaking, it's uncertain of how much traffic it will actually generate.

I put religion in quotes for a reason. Your response was wasted.

Oh, for frick's sake. Quotes are used for titles, and if you were arguing with my post, then you already knew what my point is.
Don't be an a-hole just to be an a-hole.

I am ok with prayer threads being on the OT...I wouldn't want them on this new board.
God dammit.

Chicken, I hope you're paying attention to this thread. It's a perfect glimpse into the future of a relgion board if you ever decide to launch one.

If someone posted a prayers needed thread and asked for everyone to pray to Allah for them would that be tolerated?
What about if they asked for people to pray to the flying spaghetti monster?
Or is it only prayers to the Christian/catholic/baptist version of god?

It would be a high traffic board IMO
Look around the net at all the religious/atheist messageboards and how their layout SUCKS

Highly energetic with a lot of hits?

The irony is this thread is the most I've agreed with atheists on this site so if it is any indication, the people who would actually post on the new board would get along.
The ones bickering here consist of those who wouldn't post on it anyway.

For religion board as long as TheDoc and Wiki flame threads are dealt with per site rules.

You need to make the religion board admin change their name to The Spaghetti Noodle Monster.

Chicken:
You should not create separate Religion board imo. Why is because A)it will end up being the most empty board. B)all Religious talk should be in the Political board where all the other liberal/conservative debates happen. It seems like that is it's natural home, or maybe OT can make a baby case as well. Either way, not many care about Religion and so hardly anyone will go to a new board. Only a small few would go there, usually the two extremes like arch Atheists/gay lobbyist vs Fundamentalist protestants and or Arch Conservative Catholics. Ie, people that love the bible-read the bible-obey the bible, and people that hate, disagree, attack the bible. What would you do about topics of abortion. That is deff a political issue. But it very much is a religious and or philosophical issue. And what about Gay marriage, or other issues. Again, very much political, however they always end up, turn up religious/philosophical.
But do one if you desire, your website. But such a board will be dead in no time. It's when catchy titles in mainstream boards draw people. And the liberals and Conservitives argue about politics there in poli board all the time. And how ones belief systems, faith, religion, or lack of such, effect our voting and politics. Belief systems effect the way we view culture. Thus, politics and religion go hand in hand, imo. No need for new board, imo.
