How come we cannot use the Upvote/Downvote for Polls?

We dont have a poll setting on this site, I made a thread getting upvotes/downvotes as a poll on a topic and the thread was wacked! WTF?!
I think it was a valid way of using the upvote/downvote tool.

Poll feature needs to happen. It will be a great addition.
Ice Cold- Thanks. I never really use the upvote/downvote often and noticed it was working for a short time period before the thread was wacked. This will be a great add for the future if TD does have a "poll" feature.
