Does anyone else think the "thumbs up" feature would be more popular

if there was a "thumbs down" feature?
like/dislike....its not complicated. lets make it happen.

Well, since no one really uses the thumbs up feature, might as well give the thumbs down feature a shot.
ETA: I gave a thumbs up to both our posts.

It would be more popular if it actually had a purpose. "Liking" a post has no resultant effect on the thread or the actual post.
On any other site, when you "like" or "+1" a post, it actually affects the transparency of the post.

I never look at it unless someone brings it up. I'd rather do away with it and get the search feature back. I will thumbs up my own post, now.

Top Replies?
From Chicken:

All it does is feature replies. The featured posts will show right under the first post of the thread, and they will also show up in the regular list of replies. YouTube does this.

This is probably the most recent time it was used though.....and that was 2/29/12

Seriously? That would put it out of order and affect the flow of the thread in many cases. Makes no sense to me.

It copies it to the top. It doesn't move it.

Pox, most of those threads you linked have "top replies" with 0-3 likes. I don't understand how it works.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having "likes" being the determining factor?

You underestimate the ignorance of some on this board.......
ETA: in all honesty, I think it helps keep the flow of the threads.....it works on sites like YouTube because users aren't really replying to other users......they are commenting on the video posted.....
