I just wanted to show why the word should be allowed.

frick TP, none of her bitchy requests should be taken seriously. Why isn't this thread anchored?

No idea. Only recogonize(sp) her from the OT somewhat, but she sounds like, AND I QUOTE "a fat arse count"

So, I just don't know

If the word count got banned it would be a sad day. By the way, why do fat count like to refer to themselves as princesses? Seems to be a common theme.

count is Louis CK's favorite word

Thank you, Black.

TT05 and TP...

We are obviously very different people. No offense intended, but I doubt we could be friends IRL... you two would drive me up a wall. It's not because I don't "respect" myself or that I'm "trashy", it's more like I have a firm grip on what is really hurtful. A word is a word-- whether or not it's hurtful depends on who it comes from. Another person can call me whatever they want. If I know it's not true, why would I have any cause to care what they say?

As adult women I would think you'd have enough self confidence and common sense to put things in perspective. A word can be insulting, sure. It also depends on who it is coming from and how it is said. Would I tolerate my boyfriend saying it or a stranger? No. Just like I wouldn't tolerate them calling me a bitch or anything else I find to be unflattering.

But should I really care if the OT calls me a count or bitch or whatever? It's a message board. If being called a name on a message board really hurts somebody's feelings, it's probably time to re-evaluate how they view themselves and stop frequenting that board.

JMO.

I don't see a "point" to any of this. I see differing opinions.

Colonel Hapablap - Quit being a count.

ETA - TP would probably prefer that this thread sink into the sea of oblivion.

people only say that when they're wrong.

ETA: jm, I always thought you were at least middle-middle. Your prolishness shocks and disturbs me.

Who said anything about wanting to be friends with you IRL?

Did I ever say that I find it hurtful? No, I said that it's an extremely offensive, derogatory name that shouldn't be used.

Wow. Seriously? So TT05 and I have no confidence in ourselves because we find the word to be trashy?

Would I tolerate my boyfriend saying it or a stranger? No. Just like I wouldn't tolerate them calling me a bitch or anything else I find to be unflattering.

Then why is it okay from a stranger on a message board? Do we turn into Planet of the Apes once we log onto TD?

I'm going to go curl up in a ball now because you're hurting my feelings and I need to cry it out.

While I generally agree with you on this topic, the answer to this question is an emphatic, "YES".

I don't think you should let something said on a message board offend you, but I agree it is very offense IRL. A guy at work said it in front of our secretary, who is like my second mom, not even directed at her, just in conversation and I almost fought him.

again, being offended by a word is completely and totally separate from looking down on someone because they use the word. I could care less what someone calls me. Their shitty vocabulary can still make me even more superior to them than I already am.

Come on Hap.

You couldn't come up with a less prolish word than "shitty"?
