Can we get a "Views" column for each board's home page?

Most sites have this. It would be kinda interesting to know for some threads.

I'd actually like a "posted in" check mark column on each board's page. It is just a skinny little column that wouldn't take up any room and would be easy to implement. It would be a great upgrade to this site, imo

What's with the Florida fans trying to change the site? Why are you guys making me side with the Bama fan?
TD used to have a views column. It was presumably removed because it isn't all that useful, and it makes an impact on site performance.
As for a "posted in" column... it would be about as useful as a views column, but would be even more costly in terms of site performance.
Do you guys know of any boards as fast as this one? By far the slowest part of this site is the ads.

Right now, to render a board page, the server hits the database to find the topics with the most recent timestamps. Depending on how it's coded, it also may or may not count the number of replies to each thread on the fly. The server compares each thread's timestamp vs. the last time you viewed the page and decides whether to put a "new" tag.
Your tiny column with a check mark alone would probably take about as much cpu time as everything already mentioned put together. Instead of just checking times and counting posts, the server would have to check whether any of the potentially thousands of posts were made by you.
Would it absolutely kill the site? No, but just a couple of tiny features like that will have a noticeable effect.
