why did you RA for inappropriate ?
Did I? I think I RA'd for an anchor after it was shown to be wrong (it wasn't the fastest goal in history). If I did, apologies.
Now, I'm going to go to try to go to bed again for the third time tonight.
Fred and the Admins, please don't ruin the board. Please.

I'm guessing the other threads are the riot cam one (started about 40 minutes into the match), the bracket one (which could be that Spain just looked terrible, a la Brasil earlier), and two threads that most people wouldn't understand (the racist one (from the first match) and the Dandy one (one was also made for Randy during the Belgium match, which Belgium ended up winning).
I don't post on the soccer board and I figured all of these out before turning on the game. If you don't think someone could figure out from those threads that Spain lost then you're a moron.

How the frick would making a seperate USMNT Score Board "ruin" the board? What planet are you on?
The entire point of the score board would be to keep you and the other "no spoilers" guys happy. I'm trying to please both sides here, why can't you see that?

Well that's what this thread is supposed to be about, there's no sense in bringing up the old argument yet again. He has yet to give a single reason why having a score board would be bad. In fact nobody has.

you should ban people for stating the result of the game in the title if you're going to ban people for putting the score in the title

I've been banned for that on the MTV board.

Not trying to ruin the soccer board. I just think it is crazy to think that clicking on something titled: "Soccer Board" would not contain something about current events in the World Cup. Basically what is being asked is that everyone wait 24 hours to discuss current events.
I understand the concerns when we are talking about European league games that take place in a 6+ hours time difference and some don't watch live. You guys shouldn't expect people to hold off discussing a World Cup match that may have a spoiler in the title.

Pretty much this

Agreed. When I can't watch something live whether it be a show or game, I stay the shite away from media that might possibly spoil the outcome for me.

i'd imagine the soccer board is the best behaved board on this site, and self-made rules are why
y'all basically are disrupting that to appease people who won't be posting in a month
it's basically a declaration of war on all the rules, which will lead to an actual declaration of (internet) war

the simpler question is why can't game-related discussions go, you know, in the game thread?
the reason why the soccer board doesn't need a "score board" on big days is b/c we follow the (actual board) rules

there are plenty of threads about current events in the world cup. participate in the threads

why not tell them to discuss the match in the match thread? the thread titles will be taken care of by the regular posters who have done a good job of starting the game threads. all that needs to be enforced is keeping in-game discussion to the in-game thread and there will be no problem

Yeah, I'm not really sure why match results can't be discussed in the match thread. Is there really a need to have people creating threads just to say "Adios, Spain?"
I think the biggest issue here is that the regulars of the Soccer Board have an expectation that match results won't be spoiled, regardless of the time zone in which the games are played. That's the precedent that's been set and it's worked for 4 years. For me, I work while 2 of each day's 3 matches are being played while I can get home in time for the 2nd half of the 3rd match. I do like to check in on the Soccer Board during the day to see if any new transfers have happened or to see what new rumors are flying about. And there is still good discussion regarding topics other than the World Cup matches. So it would be nice if I could do that without the possibility of someone ruining a result for me. Now, I don't get pissed when that does happen since I have limited time available to watch matches, but it's nice to know there's a place to go and discuss the sport without the possibility of spoilers.
I guess a score board could help those that can't grasp the idea of no scores or spoilers on the board, but is it truly worth the time and effort to make that happen?

Well at least two of those threads were started by soccer board regulars, so its not like its the casual fans causing the problem, even though that's what TN bhoy will say.
I kinda agree with you that its too late. Might have been a good idea to start.

One thread is fine for a random EPL or Serie A game, but not for something big like a USMNT game.

If I DVR the saints or tigers I stay the frick away from the Internet/radio/social media or any other place where the game might be discussed. If you go to sports/soccer websites then you are asking for spoilers! Have some discipline and your matches won't be spoiled.

Lol this thread is gold. As far as I know, the soccer board's little rulebook is not listed in the TD guidelines.
