What happened?
and how did you figure it out?

Yeah I would like to know more about this. I work out fasted a good bit. I used to lift heavy or run after 20 hours fast. I just loved feeling dry and weak but the pump and no guilt feast after made for great moods.

I followed Cory Gregory’s anabolic fasting plan. I loved it at first and was seeing results.
I would always fast through the mornings, workout at 11 am and then eat a big lunch right after to break the fast.
A couple months into it during a workout I just had a flash go off in my right eye and from then on it was almost like looking through water.
I battled this for about a year and a half while seeing a retina specialist (central serous retinopathy is what I was diagnosed with and at the time I was 29 yrs old). Every time I’d work out fasted my eye would start flashing almost like when you look at a camera flash. Eventually they had to shoot a laser at the spot in my eye to seal whatever was leaking fluid into it.
I’m still a proponent of intermittent fasting but for me, doing a very intense workout while fasted was detrimental. CSR is directly related to raised cortisol levels.

That sounds horrible.
Did you recover?
Were you supplementing at the time ?

It was more annoying af than anything. The laser “surgery” was pretty awful though, imagine having your eye pried open for 5 minutes being forced to look at the sun lol.
I also wasn’t limited in anything I could do but I did have to be more mindful in caffeine take or anything that would raise cortisol levels. No supplements besides bcaa powder.
I started paying more attention to adrenal health and honestly just eating more carbs which pained me to do. I was a big believer behind the science of fasting and even keto but this just made me understand that everybody is made differently.
