Anyone ever been diagnosed (self or professionally) with Distal Clavicular Osteolysis, or more commonly known as "Weightlifter's Shoulder"? Did you end up having to have surgery? Or were there modifications to your lifting regiment and at-home therapy that helped you overcome it?

I have a feeling that from October-February, I overtrained and stressed it to the point of becoming an issue. I haven't lifted since February and there is still discomfort, especially when pulling my arm across my chest. Scheduling another ortho appt soon, but the last one took an X-Ray and said there were no issues. Just curious to see if anyone else has had luck fixing this issue without surgery.

Yup. Surgery is easy as long as they don’t find anything else wrong.

They almost always do though.

Did you have the minimally invasive scope? Or full on incision? I'm sure they'll find something further wrong with mine, but I've heard a simple cortisone shot heals it until it's too far gone, then they shave the end of the bone a few mm

I had the scope.

The goal was to go in, shave the clavicle and clean out any spurs or edges that were rough.....do some PT, be on my way.

They got in and found an inflamed bicep tendon so they snipped it and re-anchored it to my humerus.

The clavicle felt great in no time. The re-anchored tendon....not so much LOL

I’ve got this.

Definitely limits strength and intensity.

Been thinking of getting it fixed.

The ole biceps tenodesis procedure

I had my right arm/ shoulder done a few years ago. Still not sure it was the right move but it is ok. My left shoulder has been feeling the same way the other was but I’m going to just work around it for now

I went to the gym yesterday and did some light incline/flat press on the hammer strength, and a few things:
1) Whoa, covid got me nice and weak
2) I felt more apprehension knowing there was something wrong than I did actual pain, but towards the end of the lift movement where I squeeze, I could definitely feel something in the front/top of the shoulder.

Orthopedic appointment on Friday morning. Had one back in March and he didn't see anything on an x-ray at my clavicle, but at the time, I thought I'd separated. Maybe a different diagnosis might warrant different inspection
