About a 10 cm. separation from hip.

My orthopaedist's PA says most are cured without surgery (this would be my third surgery this year, and I'm travelling abroad soon, so if I do do it, it's got to be done ipso facto).

What do y'all say? Be patient and continue living without working out, or bite the bullet?

Work upper body only and let it heal. I have hurt mine pretty bad with partial tears etc and they healed pretty quickly once I rested them.

I was operated on day before yesterday 8 to 10 weeks in the dry dock I had a 90% tear 10% 10 cm separation and both tendons were severed and dropped 12 CM.

The first reading of the MRI was wrong they said I had a complete tear in the separation was last and they mentioned nothing of the tendons.

Damn sounds painful. Best of luck on the recovery. How did you tear it?

Hamstring, calf, and groin

3 muscles that you never realize how much you use them until you hurt them. Don't rush them back. They can nag

Not sure if you swim but swimming exercises can do wonders

Went in yesterday afternoon for my control with the orthopedic surgeon. Everything is fine, everything is perfect.

One interesting thing the previous micro tear that was chronic that I've been nursing on and off for 15 years he was able to repair as well. Seems the problem was it kept opening reopening because it was always trying to repair itself with the sciatic nerve in the middle which as you know throbs grows vibrates Etc and was always tearing the micro tear back open.

What you should do?
Surgery

What you will do? (If anything like me)
Attempt to rest it but you start back too early and sideline yourself more

Right. I´m happily convalescing, but do get stir crazy at times.

I simply recall the initial pain, and pain after surgery. I come back to earth, and respect my condition.

It´s tough, but my not letting the micro tear of eons ago heal properly is what caused this horror.

My sister just had surgery for a complete hamstring tear. Won't you have decreased function if you don't repair it?

I can´t imagine how a full tear would heal without surgery. That´s certainly asking for problems, in my opinion.

My ortho took all of 30 seconds to read the MRI and proceed to schedule surgery (obviously, the tendons needed repairing and recolocation, so that was definitely an added incentive for surgery).

My tear went from hip point to groin, with ten percent still being intact in the groin area. That said, the separation was a full 12 cm. If she´s got a full tear, methinks she needs surgery.

I was under the impression that if you don't repair a full tear you will definitely be limiting yourself in the future.

Correct. Some people need only walk, however. Quality of life is a personal definition. We all require different things.
