Unexpected weight gain

I am in my late 50's, been biking about 5 years so my upper body has started shrinking as my legs gained muscle. Recently I started working with a trainer doing more core and light weights (10-20 reps). I haven't noticed any diet changes, if anything I've eaten better. I am Diabetic, my A1C is going down - 7.5 and I have stopped taking or reduced some medicine related to diabetes over the last 4 months. My weight has climbed from 167-173. If anything I expected it to go down? Any ideas on what is happening?

Normal,Your body responds to the tears from weight lifting and inflammation that cause temporary water weight gain. If you are not eating different and working out... forget the scale, get measurements. Once you get to weight training.. a scale is useless

Is your urine a dark color? If so, could possibly be rhabdomyolysis

4 months, 6 pounds and introduced weight training. You are building muscle. Your body is using muscles that haven't been taxed while just biking. My opinion for you, don't look at the scale. Look in the mirror. If you feel your getting fat, make a change. If you feel you are looking better and filling out, keep on your path. Seems your getting healthier. Keep that up.

I'm in an unexpected weight-something or another, myself. A plateau I guess.
I am 43, 6' (pushing it, with a nice inhale extension). With my sort of normal active muscle level, I range between 173-179. But since February, I've been stuck at 178-180.
I skied a lot from late-Jan until early April, while maintaining some running and a lot of strenuous house projects.
But I relaxed my normal diet during that time, because it's hard to stay in nutritional ketosis eating at our ski hill (even avoiding the awesome pizza) and drinking lots of good beer, every day pretty much.
However, I was at 179 after my last day of skiing. So really not much damage--i tend to gain a lot of leg and core muscle skiing a lot.
The weird thing is, that was 3 weeks ago, and I haven't had a drink of any sort in 2 weeks, and I've been doing strenuous work almost every day and training for a marathon. Plus I eased back into ketosis, and I'm definitely operating on a calorie deficit. And I still weigh 178-179. Every damned morning.
My 32 pants barely stay on (I can't wear smaller because my legs/thighs would look like overstuffed tube steaks), and I feel great, so I'm not concerned, but I'd figured I'd be down to 175 or less, cutting beer and eating better. For marathon distance, I want less weight on joints, but also need to maintain lean muscle mass to relieve joints. Maybe I've just hit the sweet spot.
I may try a few things though to get down to steady 175. Maybe, I'll just go back to beer.
I don't think it's cortisol, as I'm not particularly stressed, I'm sleeping well, and it isn't fat gain/retention.
I find shocking the system with a fast or calorie/carb load helps generally. I'll update w/ what happens in next few weeks.
I'm not much help. Just venting. Good luck!
