Does anyone have the Tonal home gym? I've been going to the gym for years now and that's all I've ever known. With work and kids in sports/school, it's becoming a lot harder to carve out some gym time. I've hear great things about this product and was seeing if someone could give me an honest review of it. Thanks in advance.

I have one for the same reasons you mentioned. I like having it here and being able to use it when I have a break during the day or between meetings. Download the app and look through the different programs, live classes, etc. There is a lot of content including live classes if that's your thing.

i dont have a tonal but have heard good things. I will say the reasons you mentioned are why so many of us built garage gyms. Most of us simply have simple power cage, adjustable bench and adjustable dumbbells so we can do all basic barbell work and dumbbell work. add in gymnastic rings and a little creativity and your options are unlimited. just something to think about.

I looked at the Tonal, but ended up getting an Oxefit XS1. It is clearly the future, but you have to make some adjustments to what you're used to. Most cable work will be very close to what you're used to. Other basic exercises (barbell squat, barbell bench press) take a little getting used to.

There are advantages (quickly load and unload the weight, things you just can't do with free weights like rowing and the cable exercises, at least without attachments, it is very space efficient, etc.) and disadvantages (some getting used to is required, 250 pound limit).

I don't know the entire deal on the Tonal, since I didn't get it, but one of the turn offs is that it is mounted to the wall, Tonal has to install it and if you want to move it, Tonal has to move it. My Oxefit is a self-contained unit that can be unplugged and moved if necessary.

I've heard bad things but never used one myself. If you have the space I would just buy a power cage

This is interesting. Takes up much less space than any free weight system. Might have to look harder at this.

I mean most of the "cages" I see in people's homes. I actually don't know anyone that has a foldable gym setup.

And holy shite is Oxefit expensive. I get it's a total gym but damn.

The big one (TWSS) is over $40k.

ETA: This is a LSU-based board, so I can say this - Brett Bech works for the company (Oxefit) and the main spokesman is Dak Prescott. It is, to a degree, a side project for some of the Dallas Cowboys, if that makes a difference to anyone.

It's a solid looking machine. Lots of exercises too, like rowing and other total body workouts. I suppose if you add up the cost of all those separate machines, you probably get close to the $4k.

I haven't tried the rowing yet, but ski cross is smooth and I got used to it in seconds, despite having never actually skied in my life. Pilates isn't ready yet, so I can't comment on that. Just a machine for the home that has force plates to check your balance seems quite advanced. The amount of feedback is almost overwhelming (power/force/acceleration, rep-to-rep and then stats).

Interesting, I have been looking at Tonal lately because my job will pay up to $100/month towards a gym or other health related stuff. So I could 0% finance this and get it for free technically.

Which model did you go with and what accessory package?

I have one and love it. We ended up doing it because my wife hates going to the gym and adding her to my Y membership was almost the same monthly cost as their 0% financing. I really like their class options as I can just roll out of bed and pick a program. I really like the ease of use and not having to adjust the weights. Would be happy to answer any questions.

I see LeBron is their spokesman. That makes me less inclined to buy honestly.

Can someone answer if you can flip/flop between two people, alternating during a workout?

Like we'd do at a gym? I'm other words, can you have two people working out at the same time and it flips between people?

Love the tonal. Got it in may and look and feel way better. My parents bought one in July after trying mine and they are obsessed as well and my dad basically had to redo his whole wardrobe. Instructors are good (mostly) the equipment is actually very well made and the workouts can kick your arse. There are several demo rooms popping up, give it a go if one is near you.

This might make the deal for me. This would save a pretty decent chunk of time, being able to easily transition from person to person during the same workout.
