1,000 is optimal and should be the goal. Not everyone can get there even with testosterone injections. But it should be the benchmark. Lot of factors play into this.
I agree we should focus on living healthy and maintaining as high a T level as possible, for our age. But do you believe 1000 is the optimum level for a man in his 40s, 50s, 60s? Aren't there increasing risk factors as you age? This is a great forum for information and advice and from what I see most posters walk the walk with a healthy lifestyle, whether natural, on TRT, or just doing cycles and lifting enhanced. But saying 1000 is optimum level for every man seems a little reckless. Not trying to be critical, you have a life story that proves you know/learned a lot, just curious?

This guy is 33. I’m not speaking in hypotheticals here about senior citizens. Someone at age 33 should want to be as close to 1,000 as possible either synthetically or naturally. That could be 500, 600, 700, etc. everyone is different. His androgen receptors are going to play a role in this. His diet is going to play a role his sleep is going to play a role his training is going to play a role. All these variables are different for everyone. At that age especially if on testosterone injections I’d want the most benefit as possible. When he is 60 the variables change and so will the metrics.

Ive been told by others that 1,000 should be my target, my issue is idk if i want to jump on TRT at 33.
Posted on 9/9/23 at 10:52 am to RefineryRich
You shouldn’t, especially if you are not done having kids. I did because I was at 75-100 after my year long fertility treatment so had no choice. I would try everything you could before that.
Posted on 9/9/23 at 10:55 am to RefineryRich
800 to 1000 is a realistic goal. Not everyone can get to 1000 on a TRt dosage. You have to make this decision. If you feel lethargic etc there’s no reason to go through life like that if you don’t have to but this is a lifelong commitment jumping on TRt. If you can hold off by making lifestyle adjustments it’s great but there’s no reason to just spin your wheels and do a ton of work and still feel like crap. I’d try some of the suggestions here first then if that doesn’t work you have options.

Ive ordered the supplements that the doctor suggested, i will see if that makes a difference first. My cholesterol is jacked already (Hereditary) so im also worried about thickening my blood with TRT.

Get on a statin and look at the supplements I recommend in other threads for the cholesterol.
Get the boron, get the sustain alpha I told you and will help with your test levels. Get another test in 6-8 weeks after starting the sustain alpha .

2 Months in:
Total Test
555 --> 1016
Free Test
7.8 --> 33.8
DHEA
253 --> 1000
Estradiol
30.8 --> 65.2
Age: 38
About three weeks in, I was having libido and ED issues. Did a spot test, and Estradiol was near 60, so took a block for about three weeks. After reading this board (thanks 777), I got off of the blocker (honestly, just felt like even more crap while taking this). Between the mental fatigue, ED issues, and low libido, I'd been contemplating just getting off of the whole treatment.
I just starting to get my libido back last week. I was told today that my DHEA is too high and to cut back on the DHEA supplements to once a day (25 mg) - was doing twice a day. I was also told to get back on the blocker, except to do half the dose this time.
Currently taking:
0.4ml Test Cyp twice a week
25mg DHEA twice a day
9mg Boron
Magnesium (for sleep)
30mg Melatonin
.25mg Klonopin
Zinc
Men's Multivitamin
I've also upped my protein intake significantly. I mostly ate veggies with protein here and there. I weighed about 145 before starting the TRT, and up to about 155 now, and that's the most I've weighed. So, the gains have been nice...but hard to tell what to contribute it to.
May labs were great to start, with the only thing abnormal being the free test. I've always been active with sports and self-motivated to work out (at least 4 times week or more when I don't have my kids). The biggest thing I've noticed is work performance, but I feel my levels are just starting to balance from all the changes.
Going to lower the DHEA intake, but not sure I'm going to get back on the blocker at all.

I’ve gotten off my AI and not getting back on unless I’m having high E symptoms. Everything I’ve read says to avoid them unless symptomatic. With a total of 1016, an E2 of 65 isn’t bad at all.

Sorry - Test Cyp
Figured I was going to leave something out.

You must mean 0.4mL
So you’re feeling better since dumping the AI?
My urologist had me on clomid/arimidex combo a while back for fertility. I was taking 1mg twice a week… I had no idea back then but I made me an emotional lil bitch. Wife and I fought nonstop over ridiculously dumb stuff. I hate that drug.

Significantly. Not feeling flush in the face and no more grogginess. Most importantly, feel like the ED is ending and libido is back on the rise.
My hemoglobin came back normal (15.6), but think I'm going to go dump some blood anyway. My heart feels like it want to beat out of my chest during certain exertions. I ran four miles this morning and didn't feel a thing, but lifting or having sex has it beating like a son of a bitch. Not sure if this will help or not, but read that you can dump about every 8 weeks. Any insight here?

That was the clomid making you an emotional bitch. I hate that shite. I was on 50mg a day for a year. Every time one of those stupid spca commercials with the dogs would come on I would cry and I never cry. I fricking hate that drug with a passion.
Posted on 9/22/23 at 12:02 pm to gerberbaby22
Doubt it’s that but go dk the dump anyways, it can only help.
And yea crushing your estro with an ai can make libido go bye bye too

Been on TRT for a year….59 years old about to be 60 in 3 months
Testosterone is 1197
Free is 27.5
Estradiol is 11
Take .5 ml test once a week and dhea and mk-677 nightly.
I started in the 500’s but my free was low.
I feel better and have a ton more energy.

need to get this up, especially at that 1197 total T. unless this is your shgb or you are measuring in in something other than pg/ml. Im gonna go out on a limb and say that is 27.5 in ng/ml which would equate to 270 pg/ml if thats the case...you are good, dont worry about the boron.
if not get on boron, 9mg daily will help big time.

mk-677 nightly.
what dose and how is your blood sugar levels? also how is the lethargy/hunger?
need to be careful with mk-677, especially with blood sugar levels. will give a type of diabetes similar to the kind women get while pregnant. Goes away after use and correction of diet but just watch it close.

so i had my lab test done yesterday
total test- 1009 (this was at peak)

estrogen- 35.38
PSA- 0.59
dhea-s- 1399
Vit D- 33

BUN/Creat ratio- 15
Sodium-142
Potassium- 4.7
Chloride- 102
CO2- 29
Calcium- 9.6
Protein Total- 7.2
Albumin - 4.8
Globulins- 2.4
A/G Ration - 2.0
Bilirubin- 0.7
Alkaline Phosphatse- 79
AST-46
ALT- 52 (i worked out hard thursday night. could have been a factor here as im slightly out of range)
Igf- 128 (doctor is putting me in ghrp/ghrh)
TSH- 1.74
Free T4- 1.00 (would like to get that up)
White Blood Cell- 4.7
Red Blood Cell Count- 5.63
Hemoglobin- 17.3
Hematocrit- 52.3 (need to donate blood and get back on 6 week schedule of donating)
all the differentials of the cbc test were within range.
go see GP tomorrow to get rest of test results. the above are just my normal yearly at urologist.
was happy with everything but the hematocrit and the hemoglobin. Little concerned over the free t4 number.
i assume ast/alt are due to working out. as i dont drink, dont take pain killers of any kind and dont take oral steroids so pretty much has to be that. have it happen before too and the studies show its pretty common.
overall pretty happy with bloodwork. Ill post other when i get it.
