Sudden onset headache while running

This has never happened to me before. And I've been running off and on for about 10 years. I was going to run 3 miles today. It hasn't been as hot lately, and I was about 15 minutes into my run when it hit. I felt great before that.
I run over to a large park here in Birmingham, and then make laps. Knocked out the first mile in just under 10 minutes, stopped at the water fountain in the park for a quick sip. Then ran up a pretty long hill and was circling back around making laps. All of a sudden I had a sharp pain behind my right eye and felt dizzy. Of course I stopped running, walked over to the fountain again for water, and walked back to work.
Has this ever happened to any of you? Ideas on what may have caused it? It almost felt like a sinus headache with the pressure, but the way it jumped on me was odd. I haven't had any congestion so I don't think it was sinus. I was plenty hydrated as well.

Man I battled exertion headaches like crazy last year. Check your blood pressure, are you taking any stimulants before hand?, how's your water intake?, breathing patterns?
There is so many different things that could cause it. For me muscle pharm amino1 was doing it when I ran or did double unders. shite would hit me like I had downed a gallon of frozen margaritas.

BP is usually around 115/75. I donated blood a week ago and it was in that range. Never had BP issues, thankfully. And no preworkouts or stimulants other than a cup of coffee around 10. Started my run at 12:15. Drink plenty of water too, which is why it threw me off. I popped some advil when I got back and downed 20 oz of water. It eased off some, but came back a couple hours later. Just strange to me, since I've never had an issue. Maybe it wasn't related to running, but I felt great that first mile. It wasn't as hot and the humidity was down.

Sudden onset of an exertions headache??
I would not exert myself again until I had it checked. It can be many things. Would be irresponsible of me to not say it could be one terrible thing.
"Worst headache of my life" is a textbook buzzword/phrase that buys you an immediate CT scan anywhere I've ever worked.

It hasn't returned. I'm thinking it was a fluke. Maybe I was a little dehydrated but not likely. Like I said it almost felt like sinus headache. I cut grass yesterday in the heat and did some more yard work and it was fine. I've actually felt great since then. I'll be careful next time I run though. Thanks for the advice.

how are your electrolytes? you can obviously drink water and still be dehydrated--headaches are a symptom of sodium deficiency. easy to get dehy really quickly in the South in August.
